People's Botanical Garden

We celebrated the 10th anniversary of Peoples Medicinal Tree Garden on 30th Dec 2012 by giving the form to a ‘People’s birth star botanical garden’ on MVIP muck dumped yard. The location is Chanthyam Pulinchode junction on the banks of MVIP left bank canal’s Aroor tunnel inlet nearby TREE’s head office. Birth star botanical garden is a wood of the country's 27 native Ayurvedic trees; most of them are under the threat of extinction. It is believed that caring for one's tree, animal, etc. will bring the person good fortune, A tree is connected to a birth star in such a way that its various parts are special for the common ailments of the persons having that birth star. Those trees and plants are also having outstanding qualities like higher oxygen generation, water storage capacity, air purification, etc. The Nalpamara trees -Athi,Ithi, Arayal, Peral- generate oxygen even at night time. TREE’S birth star botanical garden is set by developing 2 acres of the muck dumped yard into an ideal landscape suitable for the garden. 27birth star trees were placed according to its chronological order.

This garden was inaugurated by Sri. Joseph Vazhakkan MLA. As his birth star was ‘Aswathy,he planted ‘Kanjiram’, its tree. It is also the first star in astrology. Mr. Babu Paul, Mr. Johny Nelloor, and Mr. M.J. Jacob, who were state legislators, also planted trees, corresponding to their birth stars. Then leaders of various organizations and tree enthusiasts planted trees corresponding to their own birth stars.
At last, one tree was pending: ‘Attuvanchi’ of star ‘Pooradam.
Quite accidentally a one-year-old boy, Master Eldho Deepu was standing there and his star was the same. He made the final planting of the star garden, a quite auspicious moment for the planting ceremony. Bottle palms were planted through the borders like guards of the garden. A nature music team ‘whispering fire flies’ from Fort Kochi made the background music with flute and sang nature songs while this happened.
